No Model 357 Colt was marked Trooper. The Trooper was a nice service revolver, indeed, but the Model 357 was Colt's premier .357 Magnum revolver model. They came with a superior fit and finish, and a higher grade of factory tuning, vs the Trooper. And, you are correct, they give nothing at all up to the Python in those terms.

I've got one, too, but it came without the correct grips, so I put on some Pachmayrs with the plan of eventually locating correct grips, but whenever I locate correct grips, the price for them is astronomical, so it looks like it will keep the Pachmayrs on.
