Those Thermoquads had the same problem as the GM Quadrojets.
When you smashed the gas pedal, the accelerator pump dumped too much gas in.
One of Dad’s friends showed me how to adjust the Quadrojet on my big block Monte Carlo, and that thing would take off!
Wasn’t long before everybody with a Quadrojet had me tuning them.
I never heard of the Thermoquad having this problem, but it stands to reason.
Most everybody with them switched over to Holleys, since it fit the intake.
