if it ever comes to my neighborhood I'd prefer to have a weapon and not just a hunting rifle.

In the right hands, and I am right handed, my hunting rifles are weapons. I have one that is supposed to hold true to 1000 metres, though I have never shot it that far. It's good to a quarter of a mile, though.
