My desire for a light rifle did not have anything to do with lugging it up a mountain. I wanted a more nimble gun as a walking and woods gun that had the ability to poke across a field. I don't like sitting in blinds all day. I get bored and fall asleep. Plus I plan to let my sons Carry and shoot it as they get older.
Cummingscowboy does not feel that is a good reason to have a light rifle. The fact you live in the south or east makes it doubly damaging...
Yet, I have never seen a pic or read a story about CC successfully taking any big game. He did post a picture up of him with a coyote once.
