I don’t know why they have such a bad reputation for eating gas. I think tundras are pretty decent/normal for a gas V8 pickup. I’m averaging a little better than 15 with 2/3 city, 1/3 highway, hand calculated with my 4.6. 20 mpg if I keep it below 75mph. I expect the 5.7 would me 1-2 mpg worse. Dad has a 3.5 eco boost and gets about 13 in town and 21-21 on the highway. No comparison in torque though, the eco boost is a monster.

But I fully expect the tundra will be significantly cheaper in the long term, when you consider total cost including fuel, repairs, and residual value. Looked hard at F150’s and Bought a tundra.
