My Model 700 Classic .30-06 got stranded in a gunsmith's shop for over a year and my wife and her brother bought me a .270W Savage 116 Weather Warrior in stainless that was amazingly accurate. It shot everything I tried in it well under MOA except Nosler Partition which was usually MOA. When I later bought a stainless Jap Weatherby Vanguard 2 in .30-06 I gave the .270 to my brother in law. The Savage 116 is a fine rifle that doesn't cost too much and can go outside in bad weather. The Vanguard 2 is good also and I suppose it comes in .270.

Patriotism (and religion) is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
