I've got a wonderful old model 700 in .270 that's been in service since the late 60's...it doesn't need replacing.
But, if I where in the market for new, I'd be all over a Kimber Montana or Hunter model.... I'd send it off to PacNor for a new SS tube twisted 1/8 or so to take advantage of the new wave of longer high bc bullets....
Been contemplatin' that very thing w/ my old .270 WCF BDL.

The next 270 I build or barrel I replace will be with a faster twist also.
And the M700 magazine will allow you to throat the Bbl long enough to seat those high BC bullets like they were 140 gr.'s.
