Carbohydrates make people fat and give them diabetes, right? So do the Japanese have those problems?
A hundred years ago all they had to cook in was lard and they didnt live as long as we normally do now, right?
Is it just because we dont step on rusty nails?

The increase in life expectancy is due to the fact that whereas, in 1900 one-half of all children born did not make it to age 5, now 99.5% due.

Correct. The argument that the increased cancer and heart disease death rate is due to us living longer is BS. As you say, the extended average lifespan is almost entirely explained by the elimination of most childhood death causes.
