Also I would honestly like to know where the expectation for a tip came from. Even taking a fishing trip, I expect to pay 150-175 bucks or so, plus another 50 for the tip. For a guy making 16-17 per hr, it bites that it is an expectation. Granted, there is one guy we go with yearly that we always tip the mate, who is usually his son. But can a captain who makes 600-700 per trip not afford to pay his mate? Some say the only pay the mate gets is tip...kind of makes you feel obligated to tip well. Just never could understand that. Anybody care to enlighten me? What am I missing?

sometimes those deckhands just want to fish and deckhanding lets them do that so the tip is a bonus. I've been tipped when I fish with my buddy because I'll help his customers.
