I live in black bear country. I also fly fish. All of the 6 bears I've run into have run when I encountered them. That includes a sow with a cub at 15 yds. and a small bear at 5 yds. I'm also an ex-cop that knows what it takes to hit something under stress. I recommend most strongly that you follow Mackay's advice. E
