My first deer gun was Dad's .32 Special Model 94. I missed my first buck with that gun, and shortly thereafter succumbed to the horrible disease known as owning Savage Model 99's. 'Love the feel of the old Winny's, but they just ain't a 99. That being said, this thread has me waxing nostalgic about simpler times and there just might have to be a 30-30 hunt in my future here, although I'll have to store the darned thing in another gun cabinet, lest my 99's figure out I'm cheating on them.
Nice thing about a 99 is they are forgiving. One horse kick with the steel butplate, and you are branded with the war bonnet of love. I,m not man enough, so Dad gave his 99 to my youngest daughter who thinks it the best rifle ever made.
