I have a 99a in a 30/30 that I am going to dust off...
Never had it out in the woods..
I was thinking because it is not feed by a tube I could work up a load using NBT ?? Is that right or am I off the road, again??
Your right, if it does not have a tubular magazine, you can load up what you want to as far as the bullet goes. Be sure to not over do the pressure. I'm no expert on this, but I have a friend that has a bolt action 30-30 shooting nozler ballistic tips at over 2650 on the chronograph. He has been doing this for years. Until he got the bolt action 30-30, he would use 2 shells in his tube magazine gun. 1 in the barrel and 1 in the magazine. Sounds strange, but it worked fine.
