Differences abound. Dad left home when I was 12. Right at the time I was needing a dad around. But I will say that my mom assured I got to do
"Manly" stuff! She was the one that assured I got to deer hunt and fish! And the fact that I had ample WWII vets around as role Models was a big plus!

Those were different times.

I concur that there exists lots of fellows out there that missed out on a lot of positive life experiences in the past 30 or so years. But I saw the pussification factor occuring while raising my own boys. At school and they assorted youth organizations. All part of the plan.
