Sam,

My first hunt was a dove hunt and when I was a kid we did a good bit of dove, quail and pheasant hunting. Later I got into ducks and have always loved those too.

We had some short haired pointers but really got lucky with some britneys that had fantastic noses. They didn't quit no matter how tough the country was and would hunt dead birds like their lives depended on it.

I'm head out to go on an antelope hunt soon and will be toting a shotgun too. A cousin of mine has tons of of the Eurasian or collared invasive dove - no season or limit on them.

Had a lady friend once that made me a pheasant pot pie and it was one of the tastiest game meals I ever enjoyed.

Hope you get into 'em this fall!
