25-06 shoot flatter and kicks less. 308 hits harder and makes a larger and/or deeper hole. So because you started out saying it was for deer a deeper hole is not realistic as both will go clear through deer if you use bullets that don't break up. I would say the 25-06 will be easier to shoot and will be more forgiving to a degree than the 308 if you misjudge the range of a shot.

Neither will "out-kill" the other on deer.

Heck -----swap off now and then and use both. I own two 308s and a 25-06 also. I have killed a lot of deer and antelope with both. On deer there's not a huge difference in how they kill and so the only thing I can say is different is what I said at first, ---------- kick and trajectory.
