Hard to believe a 308 would be too much recoil... I would have to believe it comes down to crappy stock design as 308 really isn't in the painful end of recoil with the proper stock design, recoil pad, and loads....
Eh, it's all relative.
For me, shooting 22 rounds of 200gr 308 prone is no picnic. Guess I'm soft.
