Most are not. For the most part you treat the symptoms until they get to the point of needing the ICU. In our ER, we give them some cough syrup and send them home, even the elderly, if their O2 sats are good, which is most of them. Rarely do they come back needing admitted.


That sucks when there is medicine you can take. Why not give Hydroxychloroquine 200mg twice a day for 5 days, Azithromycin 500mg once a day for 5 days, and Zinc sulfate 220mg daily?



Because it's mostly ineffective and has cardiac side effects. Really, for the most part more than half the people with the virus don't even know they have it, and most of those with symptoms don't need treatment.
You want to take high dose Vit C, D and zinc, as well as N-Acetyl-Cystine, that's maybe helpful and all over the counter, so anyone can take those if they want to.
