I've never felt the need to look further than 154 SP Hornady's over 48.3 grains of H4350 in Hornady brass with CCI200 primers. They'll fetch just a hair under 2,700 fps in a l-o-n-g throated 700 MR, and stay inside the kill zone of any non-varmint mammal I'm aiming at. Such velocity is well within the performance envelope of that bullet to 300 yards, which is as far as I have any business shooting.

"Perfect"... for me, anyway.

And yes, if the hypothetical, "divest down to 1 rifle" scenario ever came, I can't think of any other rifle in the safe that would do any better for me.
