Very little money was spent opposing this bill. I think the backers spent at least 3-4 times as much as the opposition. Most people probably didn't really understand what it will do.
That said, I think it will eventually be struck down as it appears unconstitutional under the Bruen decision by SCOTUS. Unfortunately, that will probably take some time. The 9th Circuit is supposed to issue a new opinion on high capacity magazine bans at the request of SCOTUS after Bruen, but that was in June so they are taking their time.
