Most of the new ones I've seen don't share the same issues as the older Montana's. In fact, the mag boxes on the first few I checked had been ground down at the factory. There was no finish on the bottom of the protrusions. The metal was shiny silver and you could see they'd been ground a bit.
I still think the binding mag box was the biggest issue with these rifles.
Good to know. I picked up the 7-08 just the other day but my 280AI is over a year old so I'll check it first
