One of our daughters has almost completed her masters degree in nursing.

She told me a while back that after looking into the pros and cons of possibly becoming a nurse practitioner or physician's assistant she decided that for her the minor increase in salary (in our general area) over what she could earn anyway as a nurse with a masters degree wasn't worth the increase in responsibility, daily hassle, cost of carrying malpractice insurance, etc.

She just recently was offered promotion and a new position with an increase in salary of about $10k a year at a different location but still locally and still within the same system she has been working for several years. She accepted it.
