copperking81 Portland was still very nice in the late 80s/90s. I know for a fact that the New Yorker magazine for at least an entire year ran a glossy 5 page insert in the middle of each issue advertising Portland and the Gorge, etc as THE place to move to. Someone mistakenly bought me a one year subscription (big miss) and it pissed me off badly. It was all about selling real estate. Since then Portland went to Hell. I haven't been there in years. Fact of the matter is it's the immigration to Oregon from other States that screwed it up politically
