Thanks for the positive feedback BSA (and the link to the front sight) - I'm waiting to see how it's shoots before I call it a slam dunk I also appreciate all the other comments and opinions, helpful to get it from all angles.
Now to find a front sight hood. Any opinions on what to replace the recoil pad with - I want either red or black? Maybe one of those grind-to-fit red Winchester solid rubber reproductions?
