I submitted a request early on and they brought a mock rifle to SHOT. We've communicated since and I was given firm pricing yesterday. In my opinion, the retail price was too high to appeal but to a very select few.

We went back to drawing board. I submitted:

6.5 Creedmoor
21", #2 contour barrel (same blank used on the LA 6.5x55)
Green stock
Black cerakote

I'm awaiting pricing on that configuration. I assure you I'll post on here as soon as it's finalized.The rifle will be more expensive than a traditional Fieldcraft, but it still needs to remain affordable to make the project viable.


The #2 barrel using their common contour/caliber was the smart move (and something I prefer). Stock color doesn't matter to me but I have no objections. Paint and an in-stock barrel blank is very little overhead. Cerakote is a nice extra touch but I'd guess that might be the biggest $ increase in the deal. If it still seems to you that the price is high dropping the cerakote makes it simple, easy, and drop costs.

May be more than you want to pursue, but doing the same with .308 as well as 6.5 might pull more folks in on the buy.
