I hunt in multiple states most years. This includes the badlands of Montana, Texas scrub, and upstate New York. My western and eastern hunting shots are usually 225-400yds, but can be close. Texas shots <125 yds. If I was forced to pick one rifle for all, it would be a Tikka T3x in 270wsm. Packing a 300wby in eastern woods or the Texas brush simply isn’t ideal. Same can be said using a 7600 in 35Whelen for the badlands. Of course, as a acknowledged rifle loony, I object to the very suggestion that one rifle could ever suffice for all deer hunting….
