I'd have to say "it depends":

Open country, longish shots; my Nolser M48 in .270Win with Leupold HD6X 2-12x42 with 130 NABs at 3170FPS

Stands, blinds, smaller fields; my Rem M7 in .260 with 20" PacNor barrel with 2.5-8x36 scope shooting 130 NABs at just over 2800FPS

Woods; drives and still hunting; Rem M7 in .350RM with either 1.25-4x or 2.5-8x36 with 200 Hornady SPs at 2830FPS

Forced to pick just one, probably the M7 in .260 it makes a pretty good elusive "all around" deer rifle.
