That said I really like my .358W R700 stubby that JES rebored from a .243. So much so that I have a Schützen (Mannlicher style) full length stock on order from Richards Microfit, and plan on having it all set up and dialed in - in time for next deer season.

The caliber is a thumper, and at Eastern woods ranges is awesome. DRT IME. And the short length (18 1/2" barrel) is really handy in the thick woods. Figure a fixed 2 1/2x or 1x4 or somesuch for a scope. It has a 3x9 on it now which is clunky, that's got to change.

I saw where good-guy regular on here 260Rem had a special Ruger 77, RSI in .358W, of which there were only a handful ever made.. I figure that would be about the holy grail for my kind of deer and black bear hunting
