Yeah, I know. I'm not sure what it is between bikers and non-bikers. Kind of a territoriality thing I think. There are a lot of bike lanes here on the shoulder of two-lane roads in neighborhoods with 30 mph speed limits. When I pass a bike in the lane I'll always move into the middle and give them a wide berth if there's no traffic coming the other way because the last thing I want to do is hit one of them. Takes no effort on my part and is just a courteous thing to do. Same thing when someone is walking on the shoulder.

When I'm riding my bike I notice a lot of people won't do that. They hug the white line as if to say "that's my territory and I'm not giving an inch." Like the biker threatens their sovereignty of the road or some such.
