That was where I was heading with it. Don't know how they would be made other than a swage or very creative work with machine tools. The Army uses variations in their flechette rockets (2.75" FFAR)but I doubt they are suitable due to very small size. Perhaps a larger problem would be fabricating the sabot. The Abrams round uses aluminum as I understand it and I seriously doubt plastic would survive the velocity at the top end.

Flechettes in a shotgun shell are not new, but a somewhat heavier version w/sabot would be interesting. Thinking somewhere around .27-.30 caliber at the major diameter and perhaps 2" long. A wasp waist profile has better supersonic drag profile than straight sides.
