The President is rightly proud of the economy. If he owns the shutdown, he owns the charging economy too. He is not going to sacrifice the economy.
I could be wrong but I see it as Mr Trump pushing an ailing America slumped in a wheelchair down a narrow corridor flanked by burning hot walls which are being fed by those on the left.
Were I in that chair I would be keeping still and attempting to make his task easier.
