More than OK with me. Matter of fact, when entering a "new to me" taco shop or Mexican restaurant it's the first thing I look for on their menu, and if not on the menu I'll ask the waiter/waitress if they have some in back for the non-gringos. If it's on the menu, it's usually a decent sign they serve real Mexican food as opposed to gringo-ized Mexican food.

Not sure, as anyone tried elk tongue? Seems like they would be big enough to fry some up for breakfast at least.

G,
First, welcome back. I had a couple of threads going while you were away asking for your GPS coordinates or proof of life. Nobody gave 2 schits where you were....Laffin. Kidding of course.

Someone must have known you were getting that reassignment surgery, I mean knee surgery...I digress.

Elk tongue....Never had it. Cow tongue same. Wouldn’t eat it. Dad, grandparents all loved it. Boiled, split the top and thinly sliced it for sandwich meat.

Can’t remember what they said it tasted like...I imagine tongue!

Geno, what does it taste like to you.

Seriously though....Glad you’re back.
😎

Thanks for the welcome back,

Reassignement? Wouldn't matter much anyway. Between the wife's hip replacement earlier this year, then my knee surgery before she was fully recovered, it's been so long since i had any I forget who gets tied up. grin

I'm back, occasionally, as snow, ice, snowmelt, rain, freezing temps, and surgeries put the kibosh on all sorts of yard work, painting, gardening etc for 6 months here. Now I'm just getting back to being able to work on my leg for a few hours a day, then recliner time and ice again. Then, if lucky a bit more work now that daylight is available until 8pm or later. Staying away from playing on 'puter as much as I can.

Great idea for a post, I miss rabbit. Used to be able to by them at a local butcher shop when younger, haven't seen one in a store for 30 years or so. We always slow bbq'd them, lots of homemade bbq sauce.

Keep thinking I'll get out back after some wild ones, but the population seems down now, the only cottontails i see are in the yard. One or two might disappear this fall, but I let them stay mostly to entertain my dog. He loves chasing them out of the backyard at night, and one time he may get lucky and win himself some dinner!

Geno

PS, tongue, when done correctly, tastes like really tender roast. Which, when one thinks about it, it's just another muscle. Once that skin with the tastebuds is removed, it slices kind of like meat, maybe more like heart muscle than leg muscle with long muscle fibers.
