If the moose thing was correct, many Alaskans would die in the winter
Most folks in ak don’t eat just lean winter moose. I eat a lot of venison but a good chunk is mixed with beef and pork in sausage and burger. Plus at least one cheeseburger a week.
Read the Lewis and Clark journals about wintering on elk. It took 3-4 lbs a day per man plus whatever fish they could scrounge. Fat was a issue for them.
