I'm in north central Louisiana, hunting deer and hogs. I have three main hunting scenarios:
1. Open pastures or long pipeline right of ways. This generally gets a magnum-weight bolt action sporter, but I've gotten by with stuff like the 7mm-08, .308, .260 etc.
2. Medium range locations with cut lanes or logging roads, distances out to 250yds or so. This generally gets the short-action standard rounds in a bolt action sporter or AR10.
3. Short range spots in the woods where 100yds is far. This often gets a light bolt action carbine, a lever gun, or AR10.
