Lever guns are the best in the woods where I hunt. I shoot a 35-30 wildcat and 38-55. I used to have a 45-70, but my neck problems won out. I just couldn't make myself load them mild. I turned to a "mini 45-70", the 38-55, and it has plenty thump for my needs. If I am going to hunt where there are possible longer shots, I have rifles for that, too. No 300-400 yard shot around here.
