In Central Kentucky, I hunt primarily whitetail deer with either a Ruger American 7mm-08 with factory loaded Hornady 139 gr. GMX or a Remington 700 walnut and blue in .30-06 with 150 gr. Barnes TTSX in factory ammo. In the event I ever get drawn for the elusive Kentucky elk tag, I would be fine with either of these setups.
