One day he saw it was twisted. Someone has backed up against it and tried to push it over.
There was glass everywhere, rubber from their bumper, trim, and a Blazer badge.

He only had to put a chain on the "box" and pull it straight with the backhoe.
Before that his mailboxes went down yearly, this one has only been tested once
in 10 years.

I would say in todays world if you did something of that nature with your mailbox, and somebody hit it with a car and causing injuries or even death to the driver or passengers, you would be held liable to the enth degree. . If you ever notice that highway signs now that use a 4x4 or 6x6 wood post have a approximate 1 1/2" hole drilled though it about couple feet above ground, so that when something hits it, it will just easily snap in two. years ago, my neighbor had a mail box on a post in a old milk can that was filled with cement. I don't believe the post office would allow that .anymore.

The Ohio Supreme Court recently ruled "Fortified" Mailbox Owner not liable for driver injuries. Same as if you run off the road and hit a concrete bridge stanchion, the state isn't liable either.
