Henry Longfellow's poem "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" made Revere famous even though he didn't get through. Longfellow was a poet and 'Revere' rhymes better than 'Ludington'.
William Dawes is usually credited for completing the ride and delivering the warning. Very little has been said about Ludington but I have heard of her.
