Lol , me and another lineman working Hendrix cable s long time ago weren’t used to sealing the splices as overhead conductors were bare wire .
But the Hendrix had to have the splices sealed . Sleeves were pressed on with a hydraulic press , wire was 500
aluminum . We were working in the mid of the summer in gloves and sleeves , unit work , shieting and getting .
We got the first jumper squeezed up and realized we left the shrink wrap off which had to be slid onto the conductor before sleeving .
I can tell you those pressed sleeves do not come off easy .
Took a good hour and several cutter wheels to cut that sleeve open and get the wire out . We had to cut several slits in it , there weren’t no peeling it off .
Then we did a repeat , foreman wasn’t happy .
