First off all I know I'm going to get flamed but after less than a 100 post in 5 years I have very little to lose.Out of all the gun/hunting forums on the net the 24 hour campfire IMO has the most knowledgeable members also the rudest.I don't know much about hunting and guns and I will be the first to admit it. Many times I have want to say something and thought about it a long time and decided not to because I didn't want to read a 1 or 2 word smart ass answer just to drive up somebody post count.Then there will be somebody who spent a lot of time and money haveing a custom rifle built and post a pictue of ther pride and joy just to get reamed because the twist of the rifling is wrong or scopes to big or small.Some times it gets real personal. It seems 2 or 3 set the tone for this forum.I know real world people don't talk to each other like this.I guess it's like road rage behind a computor screen.I know owning a large auto repair shop that most people will say things to you on the phone that they would never say to your face.just to beat somebody to it I'm not a liberal,I don't spell well,I say stupid stuff although I try not to and I ask stupid question some times.There I beat you to the punch.I realize this will probably be my last post.Flame on. 3

Yep I agree, I have thought twice about posting a response too out of self preservation because I am not as quick witted as some here. But you have to have some skin man! If it gets to you that bad ignore them! Sam is correct in that some of the real campfires I have been around are a lot rougher than this.
Don't leave a place just because someone bugs you a bit. Stand up to them, let them know how you feel, just like you have here.

There is a wealth of information on this site & I have had gunsmithing questions answered which saved me a lot of expense & aggravation. Unfortunately, a few specialize in smart a$$ answers & a few more are the preeminent experts in any aspect of domestic or foreign policy. I stay away from most of the useless arguments & just move onto more interesting posts. I agree that many say things on the Internet that they would never say in person. All of that said, members reflect most of society. Helpful knowledgeable people, some that take pride in creating arguments & embarrassing others, & a few that are just plain stupid. All in all, Rick Bin has created a wonderful site for hunters & shooters. Hope you post more & learn to use spell check like I have. I can't spell from chit.

Well some folks here are wordier than others, I am not for the most part unless I REALLY get fired up about something.
That said, this is a great place here that Rick provides with a mostly hands off approach. Kudo's to him as we rarely NEED a "hall monitor" as most are very adult here.

If you are nice to them or tolerate them, they see it as a sign of weakness.

This place has toned down a lot since I�ve been here. I have received a lot more than I have contributed. If you are secure about who you are as a person, you really won�t lose much sleep over what other people say. I freely talk about things within my comfort zone, and freely admit my lack of knowledge about other areas. If I operate within those parameters, the advice is extremely beneficial.
I have participated on more heavily moderated forums. I much prefer the freewheeling style here, where the forum pretty much moderates itself. After all, as Bristoe said, �It's just da innanet,..?� If your skin is too thin here, you�re hosed in real life.

Now, just so others here know I'm not talking out of my azz.
I retired a Major because I was medically grounded for two years during the mid point of my career and was almost medcially retired. I fought back and managed to remain for a total of 24 years. While the medical grounding wasn't itself held against me, it did prevent me from holding key jobs that I needed at the time to be competitive for higher rank. However, any military officer will tell you that rank is NOT the most important indicator of one's acheievments. In fact, those whose only goal was promotion are not thought of very highly.
As it was, I rose to the absolute top of my profession. I finished my flying career as an evaluator who determined if the instructor pilots who trained new instructors were qualified to teach these new instructors. Further, I served three during deployments in the Middle East. There are young troops walking around today because of what I personally accomplished while I was deployed.
To top it all off, the company I'm now working for created a position for me just to get me in the company and I am on a track to bigger and better things. That just goes to show things like my Cum Laude undergraduate degree, ROTC Distinguished Grad, Honor Society membership, Who's Who recognition, and 4.0 MBA were indeed indicators of my potential.
Now, NONE of that makes me an expert in anything or means I am better than anyone else. MANY on the Campfire have far exceeded anything I have done. However, it does mean "Bart" is STILL full of schitt.....................

I always thought RickBin is the only one who has something at stake, maybe that should be his call. If there is concern we might be chasing posters away who showed up to learn, were offended and left, I think the person who has something to lose should dictate what this forum is.

Well there, I've managed to hang around for 4 years and a couple thousand posts without many problems. I have a background in environmental science, science education, and have worked as an educator, landscaper and cook for most of my life. My philosophy is this, if I can offer something to a topic on the board, I will. If I have a question, I will not hesitate to ask. If I have a funny experience, I also share because I like it when others do. I don't disagree with folks too loudly and don't throw around insults. The fact is, I'm much like that in life. I'm 6'3 and 250 lbs, and I've been walking behind lawn mowers and such a very long time and am a pretty big boy. I could walk through life like a bulldozer if I chose to, but I work very hard to be civil. It can be done if you so choose. Enjoy in the company of those who share your interests.
I can't say that I agree with you about this. I look at the Campfire as two separate sites, there's the Campfire and there's the rest of the site. Most of what you're talking about takes place only in the Campfire, not on the rest of the site. The Campfire is the politics/BS/opinion section, and the rest of the site is more information based. If you want to play at the Campfire, be prepared for a dust up now and then.
The same person that gives you an a'hole response on the Campfire can also give you a very nice informative post in response to your hunting/gun question. I haven't seen anyone get flamed out for asking beginner questions about hunting/guns/etc. I can say that I've learned a lot from the people on this site....not sure about the Campfire section, but its been good for a laugh now and then too. I've also bought and sold stuff without a single problem.

One of the captains whom I worked with at the proving ground was a true multi-decorated hero of the Viet Nam war � subject of a chapter or two in one of General "Slam" Marshall's books. He was a quiet guy, but his combat record hollered. He'd been decorated several times for the way that he'd led his men out of a couple of NVA ambushes. He was a true living legend among the other officers and noncoms � veterans all � at the proving ground.
When he came-up for promotion to major, he was older than any of the other candidate captains, so the Army brains said that he was "too old" (at thirty-five! IIRC) to be included in the quota for promotions to major. (The truth is that his combat commission wasn't considered as worthy as the others' Academy training.) The Army then demoted him to Master Sergeant, transferred him, and retired him.
By no means would I put him in the same category with a forcibly retired Navy LT whom I'd worked with, who'd warped the keel of his destroyer by running it at flank speed all the way back to Norfolk to take his wife to dinner. He wore that idolized, magical Academy ring � and the superior attitude that went with it � so he'd retired with the usual hoop-la (but no promotion to LCDR).
I know nothing of friend Blaine's record, but I'd be awful slow to disparage his rank or his retirement.

Don't take it so seriously. A serious well intentioned question will usually be addresses (sooner or later) by someone who is actually helpful.

This is the best site I know of for talk about hunting, hunting rifles, and handloading. As for the anti-California BS, just ignore it. Even the guys who spout that usually are otherwise standup guys.
Some of these people saying these things are drunk or high on drugs. You can ignore them when they are behind a dumpster shooting up with a syringes or drinking cheap wine out of a bag but they are in your face here and you can't drive by and look the other way. Very sincere fella that started the post and a big heart, would be a shame to see this guy go and creeps remain.

One of the captains whom I worked with at the proving ground was a true multi-decorated hero of the Viet Nam war � subject of a chapter or two in one of General "Slam" Marshall's books. He was a quiet guy, but his combat record hollered. He'd been decorated several times for the way that he'd led his men out of a couple of NVA ambushes. He was a true living legend among the other officers and noncoms � veterans all � at the proving ground.
When he came-up for promotion to major, he was older than any of the other candidate captains, so the Army brains said that he was "too old" (at thirty-five! IIRC) to be included in the quota for promotions to major. (The truth is that his combat commission wasn't considered as worthy as the others' Academy training.) The Army then demoted him to Master Sergeant, transferred him, and retired him.
By no means would I put him in the same category with a forcibly retired Navy LT whom I'd worked with, who'd warped the keel of his destroyer by running it at flank speed all the way back to Norfolk to take his wife to dinner. He wore that idolized, magical Academy ring � and the superior attitude that went with it � so he'd retired with the usual hoop-la (but no promotion to LCDR).
I know nothing of friend Blaine's record, but I'd be awful slow to disparage his rank or his retirement.
Thanks Ken. Even though the medical thing made the pronmotion iffy, it still stung when I was passed over to O-5. However, I decided it wasn't going to make me bitter, like I saw happen to several guys. I decided became what they call an "Iron Major," which means that you work as hard as you ever did to prove to yourself the USAF was wrong. Once you attain that status you are not treated like a passed over O-4, you are treated as a highly competent professional that can and will handle anything, no matter how high that task is supposed to be above your pay grade.
The biggest compliment I ever received was from an 0-6 fighter pilot. He was irritated when he heard about the bufoonery of a certain O-5. To which he shook his head and said, "Lt Col X does crap like this, yet we pass over guys like Painter." I'd much rather be a guy who they thought should have been promoted than a guy who they thought shouldn't have been promoted.
And Stick/PWC, will dose out some good stuff before he gets booted, there is a LOT of good info that comes out of him, some just don't know how to handle him though...
You know, I just don't agree with that sentiment. When Stick first showed up he was so far ahead of so many of us in hunting and shooting we hung on his every word. Back then he passed on a LOT of good info in a respectful manner, and was even able to be a man and take a little crap flung at him without starting a pissin' match. I always wondered what happened to him, and wondered why he became the worthless progenitor of drivel that he is today.
I think he just couldn't handle it when the Campfire grew and guys showed up that could best him in everything he did. That, and many here developed skills beyond what Stick had, and instead of being proud that he was part of that, it shook his ego. After all, Stick used to be THE source of knowledge on hunting Alaska, but now we have Phil Shoemaker. By all accounts, Phil is just as crusty, but at least Phil knows how to write. Stick used to be THE man when it came to shooting long range well from field positions, but nowadays no one here is going to beat Shane (Montana Marine) or Jeff (rost495) in that area. There are many here who have wrung out exceptional accuracy from rifles of all weights and at all distances, yet when challenged, Larry would never even post group sizes.
So when you consider there isn't one thing Larry can do that someone else here hasn't done better, what point is there is to putting up with his insulting rants anymore?

I can't say that I agree with you about this. I look at the Campfire as two separate sites, there's the Campfire and there's the rest of the site. Most of what you're talking about takes place only in the Campfire, not on the rest of the site. The Campfire is the politics/BS/opinion section, and the rest of the site is more information based. If you want to play at the Campfire, be prepared for a dust up now and then.
The same person that gives you an a'hole response on the Campfire can also give you a very nice informative post in response to your hunting/gun question. I haven't seen anyone get flamed out for asking beginner questions about hunting/guns/etc. I can say that I've learned a lot from the people on this site....not sure about the Campfire section, but its been good for a laugh now and then too. I've also bought and sold stuff without a single problem.
Some people just have the innate ability to see things as they really are..............

Not always. My father's first son by his second wife was RIF'd as a butter bar LT. They didn't even want him enough to automatically give him 1st. He joined the National Guard and finally made it up to LTC. That tells you a lot about the Guard in Alabama.
I try to be helpful on the Hunting/Rifle/shooting forums if it is a subject I have some knowledge of.
I come to the campfire forum for debate and humor. I learned to post questions you want serious answers to in those forums.
The way I learned it, this forum is for humor at each others expense or debate about current events. A thick skin is helpful here. Once you get to know everyone, you know how they respond and understand that is just there way or their point of view on the matter.
I give Ringwormm and Tod hell, they give it back, but I don't dislike them. It's fun to debate them and others.
I tend to answer questions here differently than I do on the other forums. I try to distinguish nonsense from a real question.
I saw a bunch of RIFs when I worked for the government. None of 'em applied only to an individual. All were just what the term says � reductions in force � reductions by dozens or hundreds, even thousands of government employees.
Competence had nothing to do with 'em. The operative rule was "last hired, first fired," regardless of competence.
I saw the same thing happen in industry � in giant corporations like Westinghouse, for example. Westinghouse kept a lot of us on for weeks, waiting for the sure-thing award of the prime contract for the Mark 48 torpedo, with nothing for us to do. I got a better job, and a couple of weeks later, Westinghouse RIFed fifty-seven employees. No competence question or problem. And a few weeks after that, Westinghouse sho' nuff got the prime contract for the Mark 48 and had to launch a new hiring program.
One big corporation was notorious for its habit of firing crowds of employees when the wait for the award of a contract was overly long � when the certainty that they'd soon get it would mean that they'd be rehiring just a few weeks later and would rehire the same people whom they'd just let go.
I worked with several victims of that corporation's RIFs who'd gotten new and better jobs almost immediately � pretty hard to disparage their competence.
I've seen people RIF'd and I've RIF'd people myself. It is best if you can design the RIF policy to do away with those who are the least productive employees, but that is not always possible. The employees usually have a say in RIF policies, either directly or indirectly (if they are supposedly not negotiable). Many times you will have aggressive, self-interested individuals negotiating for the employees and they will try to get a RIF policy which is extremely forgiving towards themselves and all the others can get effed. They will get it shoehorned into a negotiated agreement by downplaying it and emphasizing the pay raise. Most employees don't pay attention to the RIF policy until it is too late. IME, most RIF's get rid of the wrong people, people who should be kept on.

on the point of one and two word answers to serious questions.....you must not interact with ppl much....most any place ive worked its pretty standard to get a couple wise arse answers before yah get the one yah really want.....and generally its one of the guys that made a smart arse comment that eventually gives yah the best help.....its a give and take and normal course of a conversation round here in real life.....thick skin gets yah a long way and as Bristol points out its just the innanet and if someone really bugs the hell out of you consistently there is an ignore this user button.....this chit aint rocket science....

With some it is not a bad day or a loss of patience or anything else. It is a rule. The norm. The way business is done. I have, truth be told, modified my internet behavior as the years roll by. I was never one to seek out a fight nor to set myself up as an expert. But what I have changed is that I avoid those who do. I just don't want to be bothered.
There is a relatively straightforward test I put to those I converse with on the internet: Would I trust this person to be respectful and helpful to my mother or father if they happened upon this place.
Both are in their retirement years, neither has any experience with the internet at all, and both are as country and hillbilly as their eldest son. In short they are the salt of the earth but are the exact type that some on this forum exalt in insulting, belittling, and making fun of.
If a person fails this test I may still talk with them or post on one of their threads, and I try to respectful and friendly. But I would never consider taking them on a hunt or inviting them to my camp. They aren't welcome. Nor would I accept an offer to share a campfire with them. And I doubt that they would miss me at all. :p

My only issue with Bart is he is disrespectful, and I don't tolerate disrespect. It has nothing to do with one's rank or occupation or socio-economic status. With me, most everyone starts out with a whole boatload of respect. However, many of the folks work extra hard at pissing away that respect, and once it's gone it's very hard to get back.

I've read most of your posts Blaine and you have been as arrogant as anyone that's come through here. You have earned ZERO respect in my opinion. I don't like you and have no problem letting you and everyone else know how I feel.
Ditto Sir. Also, you can't judge a Military Man by rank achieved. I knew a LCDR who retired after 30. He started out as a Seaman Recruit, advanced through Senior Chief, and got his commission. He was a very successful man.
As a Medic I was involved in several life/death situations. Some lived and some didn't. Was I successful in my Military career? I don't particularly feel so but I bet there are others who would disagree.

The "495" in "rost495" means something. It means he shot a 495 out of 500 in a Highpower match. There aren't to many guys that can shoot iron sights that well. MontanaMarine can shoot sub moa with his 308 at over 1100 yds from prone--that is a BIG deal. We have real military snipers that post here. We have many other competition shooters here. Competiton shooting is miles above casual field shooting in terms of precision and consistency. Boyd Heaton used to post here, and he's one of the heavies in the 1000 yd BR game. There are a bunch of guys who shoot competively and post here that I'm missing. Larry may be an above average shooter, but he is by no means exceptional. It just took the Campfire a while to figure that out.
To the contrary, my willingness to stand toe to toe with you thread-wreckers and make perfectly factual, reasonable arguments drives you guys nuckin' futz.

Many of the more knowledgeable and experienced people just kind of faded away. A few still linger on... But politness? Respect for another's opinion? No more here. It has nothing to do with thin skin and everything to do with manners.
There are few threads that don't develope into rage fests here anymore. Interesting that a few, so decorated, get a pass for rudeness, while others are jumped on for even the hint of a slight, or differing opinion. Then others seem to recognize that they're the "whipping boys", and jump in as well. I've backed off considerably from posting here, as I found I was beginning to also lose my sense of propriety, from the environment. Sometimes I'd try to divert the arguments with nonsense or unrelated comments. But I realize now that I was wrong to try.

I have asked some of the more virulent such as Big Stick to please tone it down. That what we say here reflects on all of us as hunters, sportsmen and gunowners.

I saw a bunch of RIFs when I worked for the government. None of 'em applied only to an individual. All were just what the term says — reductions in force — reductions by dozens or hundreds, even thousands of government employees.
Competence had nothing to do with 'em. The operative rule was "last hired, first fired," regardless of competence.
I saw the same thing happen in industry — in giant corporations like Westinghouse, for example. Westinghouse kept a lot of us on for weeks, waiting for the sure-thing award of the prime contract for the Mark 48 torpedo, with nothing for us to do. I got a better job, and a couple of weeks later, Westinghouse RIFed fifty-seven employees. No competence question or problem. And a few weeks after that, Westinghouse sho' nuff got the prime contract for the Mark 48 and had to launch a new hiring program.
One big corporation was notorious for its habit of firing crowds of employees when the wait for the award of a contract was overly long — when the certainty that they'd soon get it would mean that they'd be rehiring just a few weeks later and would rehire the same people whom they'd just let go.
I worked with several victims of that corporation's RIFs who'd gotten new and better jobs almost immediately — pretty hard to disparage their competence.
I would suggest that a corporate rif is far removed from a military rif to a second lt. Promotion to 1st lt is a gimmie. In this case I would suggest the army knew exactly what it was doing.

With some it is not a bad day or a loss of patience or anything else. It is a rule. The norm. The way business is done. I have, truth be told, modified my internet behavior as the years roll by. I was never one to seek out a fight nor to set myself up as an expert. But what I have changed is that I avoid those who do. I just don't want to be bothered.
There is a relatively straightforward test I put to those I converse with on the internet: Would I trust this person to be respectful and helpful to my mother or father if they happened upon this place.
Both are in their retirement years, neither has any experience with the internet at all, and both are as country and hillbilly as their eldest son. In short they are the salt of the earth but are the exact type that some on this forum exalt in insulting, belittling, and making fun of.
If a person fails this test I may still talk with them or post on one of their threads, and I try to respectful and friendly. But I would never consider taking them on a hunt or inviting them to my camp. They aren't welcome. Nor would I accept an offer to share a campfire with them. And I doubt that they would miss me at all. :p

I did ask in a previous thread on this topic and a vendor responded to the complaint that Big Stick is rude and an embarrasment to us. He said that "Good information is good regardless of the source". I put him on ignore as that vendors comments are worthless also.
This seems to sum up the forum. I note that the owner has not chimmed in. Perhaps he is not aware of the complaints or approves of the goings on?
I am not sure what to do at this point but indeed this forum has become a waste of time.
How many of the posts on this thread start out by assigning motives to others? How can we do that? Do we know them well enough to do that? Maybe so many of these contests take off because we are projecting our own issues onto others. I suppose I'm guilty of doing that even if I try really hard to avoid it.

I think the issue with Ken is when he becomes tired of troglodytic behavior, he has the ability to rip someone new a new azzhole with eloquence, wit, and style. It's questionable whether or not I am a gentlemen. Much more importantly, I am not a liar, and I would be lying if I apologized to Steelie. I, with full understanding of what I was doing, made those hurtful comments.
I have tried EVERYTING to be at peace with Steelie. When I first discovered that he thought I said his sister was going the Hell, I apologized, both publically and privately. His response was "blow me." I overlooked that and we came to some sort of reasonable interaction. The he started things up again. I don't know what he is this way.

Hello Gents, I'm really new to Campfire. Evidently some folks here did not know my mother, she taught manners and demanded that us kids never embarass the family in public. Every once in a while I'll pull an old Handloader out and read about some goofy antiquated cartridge that's outlived it's usefulness, like the 30-06 for example and read it again. The term "professional victim" really puzzles me. I've been abused and betrayed by family, friends, publishers, a surgeon, gun-makers, and a lawyer since the first year of my life (NOT by my parents, I hasten to add!), and I've never made a cent from any of it. We all share pretty much the same interests in the Second Amendment and the outdoors in general. That's good enough for me. When you are dealing with large online communities, you have to expect a few pendejos to show up every now and then. It's best to just ignore them and they will move along.

I got introduced to a very personable gentleman � shooter � from England several years ago, and we spent a couple of days together shooting prairie dogs. He was over here for the first time and of course had never even seen a prairie dog before. He seemed to be in Hawg Heaven and didn't try to hide his exuberance. The vast expanse of eastern Montana was a delight to him, too.

First off all I know I'm going to get flamed but after less than a 100 post in 5 years I have very little to lose.Out of all the gun/hunting forums on the net the 24 hour campfire IMO has the most knowledgeable members also the rudest.I don't know much about hunting and guns and I will be the first to admit it. What happened is Steelhead insulted my faith, unprovoked, for the millionth time. I didn't turn the other cheek this time. I tried for years to make peace with Steelhead, but he'd never remain peacable. It's easier to get things solved that way, and you gain respect when people see you're maintaining control of your emotions.

Even spilled a little glue and at one point had to stick my head down between floorboards to fish pipe up to where I could glue more parts on.
Suddenly about 3:00 this afternoon I realized I was higher than HG's headlights. Sat down in the big leather recliner and woke up a couple hours later with a raging headache and a few questions about who and where I was...

The heater wouldn't come on last night. I needed a longer ladder to reach the roof, bought it, got up there and found nothing easily fixable. Talked to a neighbor who's a contractor, who recommended a guy. It was evening by then, and I tried it, and lo & behold it heated. I need a ladder anyway for painting the house, so I guess it wasn't a bad purchase. Werner has a pretty cool multiladder that converts from double step to extension, and extends pretty easily. Much better than others I have owned in the past.

I've hunted with the guy for going on three deer seasons and elk season this year...I don't need to question his honor or lack thereof as you put it.....

Tough day installing a new boiler and having to run PVC pipe through finished walls for the vent and combustion air. Had to glue the pipe together and had to get into some pretty tight areas with the little primer and glue cans.
Even spilled a little glue and at one point had to stick my head down between floorboards to fish pipe up to where I could glue more parts on.
Suddenly about 3:00 this afternoon I realized I was higher than HG's headlights. Sat down in the big leather recliner and woke up a couple hours later with a raging hardon and a few questions about who and where I was...

Blaine, nobody is questioning whether you are out of bounds getting revved up and firing back at Scott, the question is do you want to be the one to take it and leave it where you did? If Scott had a five year old daughter, would you attack her because Steelhead pisses you off? You can't mock somebody who has nothing to do with this and somebody who had their life cut short in a tragic way, it's too far brother, it's just too far, that's all I can say about it.

I've watched this thread for a bit and read the whole dang thing.
Not sure how it's done on the West Coast but bringing up family like Blaine did was the most cowardly and classless thing I've ever seen on the Campfire. Unfortunately, you may only have one fan left with Mr. Seafire Blaine. Not sure how you could be defended in any way for saying what you did. Not sure why you'd want to continue with an internet forum when you're hated, and unfortunately, rightly so.
I've exchanged some PM's with you before Blaine but regardless of how you justify what you did in your head, it was wrong. Very wrong. And you know it. And I've been a Christian since I was 5 and am proud of it. Using your Christianity to justify or partially justify your actions here is pure folly. I've watched banter between you and Steely before and I would tend to believe the problem is with you Blaine and not your personality. You are pretty arrogant.
It's obvious you could care less what myself or others say here but you should be ashamed of yourself.

Read very carefully Krp's posts about his Christian faith. Unlike many so called Christians, he isn't wrapped up in a man-made religion with all its pomp and trappings, its corruption and sin; but his is a personal faith between him and his God. I recognise similar in other people here too, from a couple of different demoninations. They don't try to whitewash, condone or excuse the evilness that is sometimes carried out in Gods name, and I respect them and their faith for that.
So if you are a Christian, take a moment and look back over this thread. Are you proud of your actions? Would you be proud if your wife, children or Pastor could read this thread and see your comments? Do you think your conduct reflects well on fellow Christians? No need to answer in public, just something for you to think about...
In closing, I would seriously recommend you find somebody you can talk to; if not a councilor or similar, then a priest or pastor. I say this with out malice, but your postings show signs, very strong signs, of mental health issues and you really to get help before things get serious.
Well I'll only say one thing in Blaine's defense, I was taken so far back by the comment that in someways I believe I missed the point he was trying to make. That being that to some, having your religion, your belief and your god mocked, ridiculed and made fun of, feels like having somebody mocking a deceased family member. I wish he would have made his point some other way, but I get the point he was trying to make, one stab through the heart for another.

My wife and I watched a really nice bull moose yesterday morning for 10-15 minutes. Was wishing we had a bull tag for that area, but we didn't. In my mind's eye, I shot that critter dead right there. Perfect shot behind the shoulder. One shot - 168 gr TSX at 2900 from a 30-06. Glad I wasn't using a 270. They ain't enough for moose, even in a mind's eye.
Pictures have been posted, probably find them in a search, I think she regrets some, but I feel she needs no apology, they are nice pictures. Maybe she will see this and she can post one of her and Ned, so we can see the lucky guy that snagged such a wonderful person.

First words out of her mouth were: "at least you aren't the gay cop!". And I have to concur. Of all the Village People, if I have to look like one of them and come close to sharing a name, might as well be that one.

First off all I know I'm going to get flamed but after less than a 100 post in 5 years I have very little to lose.Out of all the gun/hunting forums on the net the 24 hour campfire IMO has the most knowledgeable members also the rudest.I don't know much about hunting and guns and I will be the first to admit it. Many times I have want to say something and thought about it a long time and decided not to because I didn't want to read a 1 or 2 word smart ass answer just to drive up somebody post count.Then there will be somebody who spent a lot of time and money haveing a custom rifle built and post a pictue of ther pride and joy just to get reamed because the twist of the rifling is wrong or scopes to big or small.Some times it gets real personal.
