I worked with a former Marine Corp pilot. He swore helicopters weren't really flying, they did it with mirrors. Than I asked him what we were seeing when a helicopter crashed; he said someone broke one of the mirrors.
That makes more sense that any of this "retreating blade" aerodynamics stuff I assure you!
