I tolerate strangers to minor degree when they show up at my door. Bulldogs die on the spot.
I’ve had 3 encounters with dogs that resulted in gunfire, I sure hate to kill someone’s dog but the only one I had to kill was a bulldog. He kept coming and gunfire didn’t scare him off until it killed him. The other two times the dogs were scared off by warning shots.
