Your disdain for Christianity is proof of the damage that hypocrites and charlatans do to Jesus' teachings. There are a good many people who while not atheist look at organized christianity and want no part of it. I would agree that probably most people claiming to be followers of Jesus in fact are not. And are not the least bit interested in researching just what is his core message. There is a lot of truth in scripture but sadly as I have said before there are obviously things ascribed or imputed to Jesus that he never claimed. No telling the damage done by the likes of Jimmy Swaggart, Benny Hinn, Joel Osteen, and even Billy G.
What Jesus precisely said we have no reliable record of...He didnt record anything on papyrus or wax board himself, and what is ascribed to him decades later is not known to be witnessed by the unknown Gospel authors.
Word of mouth accounts passed through decades can't seriously be taken as accurate and reliable source.
