Yep.

And while that may be effective, I prefer another approach to holding the scope tube securely in the rings. And it's not just the Talley LW's that have issues. Matter of fact, in an out-of-the-box-just-bolt-'em-on scenario, an aluminum ring that has some amount of flex will generally provide more contact than a steel ring that doesn't conform as easily.

Stuff happens. Addressing/correcting things right from the start is always preferable to fixing stuff later.

For example, there's a set of Warne steel bases here that cracked between the mounting screws (rear base for a Rem. 700)......
