Like you, height and weight are my biggest dislike on rails. DNZ have worked well for me on the same rifle that 2 pair of TLW's cracked on (and several other rifles) so I think they are a safe route. The downside on DNZ are limited ring spacing.

Burris XTR bases are about as low as you get for a pic rail option, but with rings they will be heavier than TLWs....everything is heavier than TLWs...:
