I have never had an issue on the 3 or 4 pairs I have used but agree there must be one, I just put a set of 30mm lows on a 6.5 cm sauer 100 with a scope that has a 40mm objective. I am questioning that now. I was originally going to use an aluminum pic rail and alum tps 30mm extra low rings I had on hand but it was way to high.
Looked for Talley extra lows, but could only find lows so used them.
So what is our alternative for low or extra low lw one piece mounts? DNZ have these issues?

Like you, height and weight are my biggest dislike on rails. DNZ have worked well for me on the same rifle that 2 pair of TLW's cracked on (and several other rifles) so I think they are a safe route. The downside on DNZ are limited ring spacing.
Burris XTR bases are about as low as you get for a pic rail option, but with rings they will be heavier than TLWs....everything is heavier than TLWs...:
