Should murder and violence and cruelty…in an event such as this…be seen as morally reprehensible…? When people become impervious to murder and violence and cruelty…in an event such as this…have they lost something essential to their humanity…?

and the truth is likely this: most of the people posting here would come to the aid of someone being harmed without asking whether the victim is straight or not. most of what you read in this thread is just bluster.
