This is a Sako L 579 from 1971 in 308 Win. When I found it, it was languishing in the "make an offer and take it" section of the local gun shop's used gun rack. It looked like it had been under the seat of someone's work truck for years. I lowballed them on it and it was mine. I sold the vintage scope off of it and my investment in it became embarrassingly low.

I had plans to re barrel it to 7mm08 because I already had a couple of 308's. I made the mistake of shooting it first and it still wears the original 308 Win barrel. It has displaced a couple of 308's I had in my safe. The barrel had some serious pits on the outside near the muzzle and most of the blue was gone. Cutting a couple of inches off the barrel took care of the pits and a Cerakote re finish brought it back from near death. A light refinish of the beat up stock and I called it resurrected! The wood is as plane as it gets and the metal has an eggshell/black finish now. Just what I wanted! I can't wait for deer season!
