In 13 years of full-time guiding I have only had 3 hunters shoot off-hand from 50 - 100 yards. All else used bi-pods, tri-pods, rocks, trees or my shoulder.
Best shot ever took a walking red hartebeest at a ranged 416 yards, dead rest from a tree, 375 Ultra Mag, 300gr @ 2950 fps. He is an ex-Marine.
Any sturdy tri-pod will work. And if a bi-pod works for you, use it.
