To address the OP, I seldom do any sort of big game hunting without sticks. I don't always use them -- in fact, I prefer to use almost any other sort of rest that's available -- but I always have them handy if there's no other option. Lately, I've been trying out Cabela's sticks. They work as well as any I've tried.
