The only reason anyone flocked to the 30-06 was because of it being chambered in the Springfields. Even the military realized it was all the pain and none of the gain.
Recoil tends to ruin a lot of new shooters. Why beat a poor kid to death, just so he can shoot schitty bullets? And this is coming from someone that has burned up two 30'06 barrels.
