The 30-06 was the hand's down most popular caliber for Alaskan guides until well into the 1960's and there are still a few guides today who use it by choice. Even the famous Kodiak guides Bill Pinnel and Morris Talifson recommended it in their brochures and the current world record Kodiak was killed by a hunter using the 30-06. With the bullets and powder available today it is an even better choice.
